Project overview

The business case investigated  the merits of upgrading the existing pipeline and pumping infrastructure between Nyngan to Cobar in New South Wales (NSW) to provide long term water supply reliability for the region. The business case assessed a range of infrastructure options and identified the preferred option to be:

  • replacement of existing pumpstations at Nyngan, Hermidale and Cobar
  • replacement of the entire 100km Nyngan to Cobar pipeline.

The NSW Government has prioritised the replacement of the pump stations. This means the project is being staged:

  • Nyngan to Cobar Pipeline Stage 1 will upgrade the pump stations
  • Nyngan to Cobar Pipeline Stage 2 will replace the pipeline.

Stage 1 is currently in planning and Stage 2 is at the business case stage.
