The project will support the regional economy through creating water savings to be made available for agriculture.

Project overview

The project will build on previous investment across the Macalister Irrigation District and includes:

  • replacement of open channel systems with new pipelines
  • modernisation works including the upgrade and automation of outlets.

Once complete, the region will benefit from an increase in water availability and security through the generation of significant water savings. This will allow the Gippsland area to increase agricultural production and support advancement in the regional economy.
