The project is funded by the Australian Government ($470,000) and the Victorian Government ($470,000). The Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
Project overview
The detailed business case will develop a detailed design and assess the benefits of extending the supply of recycled water from Riddells Creek Recycled Water Plant to the Sunbury Recycled Water Scheme.
The proposal also includes upgrading the Riddells Creek Recycled Water Plant to Class B treated water.
If built, the project aims to create opportunities to supply agribusiness properties north of Sunbury. It will also increase the available supply to farmers in the Parwan-Balliang Irrigation District.
Connecting the Riddells Creek Recycled Water Plant to the Sunbury Recycled Water Scheme would link another treatment plant to the recycled water grid in Victoria.
The detailed business case will include:
- options analysis and detailed design
- water supply and demand assessment
- studies including cultural heritage, planning and ecological assessments
- site investigations including cultural heritage, ecological, geotechnical and topographical survey
- engineering cost estimates including risk-based cost estimates
- financial, economic, risk and cost-benefit analyses.
The business case is expected to be complete in mid 2024.
