The project was funded by the Australian Government. Australian Government funding was provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
Increased water supply would mean the ability for agricultural expansion in the North and South Burnett region.
Project overview
The project examined a range of options to increase water supply and security in the region. Investigations included an assessment of the feasibility of the Coalstoun Lakes Irrigation Pipeline.
The study aims were to:
- look at options for delivering new water supply and storage options for the region
- support improved water security
- support possible expansion of agriculture in the region.
The feasibility study was completed in April 2020. The assessment of the feasibility of the Coalstoun Lakes Irrigation Pipeline was completed in October 2022.
