Project overview

This project will upgrade the water treatment plant and replace a water storage reservoir in Doomadgee.

The water in Doomadgee can worsen because of weather events like rain or drought. The upgrades to the water treatment plant will treat cloudy and contaminated water. The water storage tank will be replaced as it is aged and in poor condition.

The project includes:

  • a new raw water intake, clarification and filtration system
  • new UV and chemical disinfection systems
  • a new water storage reservoir
  • upgrades to the pump station, pumps and pipework
  • a data-based monitoring and control system.

The project will ensure a long-term supply of safe and reliable drinking water for the Doomadgee community.
