Funding delivered to keep Urannah Dam moving
The Australian Government has committed a further $12.65 million towards the Urannah Dam business case and approvals project, bringing the total committed funding to $22.65 million.
The additional funding will enable planning and approvals work, and geotechnical studies to be carried out which is expected to be completed in mid-2022.
The proposed Urannah Dam project would include a new 970 gigalitre dam 50 kilometres from Collinsville, Queensland, and a 200 kilometre pipeline network south to the Moranbah area.
The project stands to open up approximately 20,000 hectares of prime agricultural land and support more than 1800 jobs.
