The project will examine a range of options that increase water supply and security in the North and South Burnett region of Queensland, and includes an assessment of the feasibility of the Coalstoun Lakes Irrigation Pipeline.

The project aims to deliver new water supply and storage options to support improved supply security and expansion of irrigated agriculture in the North and South Burnett Regions.

The $3.5 million project is funded by the Australian Government.

Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.

Project status

The North and South Burnett Regions Feasibility Study was completed in April 2020. The assessment of the feasibility of the Coalstoun Lakes Irrigation Pipeline, which builds on the completed study, was completed in October 2022.
