Preferred route announced for the proposed new Dungowan Dam pipeline
15 March 2021
The Australian and New South Wales governments have reached a significant milestone, announcing a preferred route for the proposed new Dungowan Dam pipeline.
The pipeline will be built in two stages. Stage 1 will establish a new reliable connection from the recently completed Chaffey Dam pipeline to Tamworth’s town water supply. Stage 2 will be built in conjunction with the proposed new Dungowan Dam, pending the outcomes of the final business case and Environmental Impact Statement.
This project will increase water security and build resilience for Tamworth and the Peel Valley, while boosting the local economy as it continues to recover from the impact of drought and COVID-19.
