Working together for water security in Victoria

The Australian Government is contributing $48 million to the construction of the $116.3 million Western Irrigation Network (WIN) in Victoria.
Jointly funded by the Australian Government, Victorian water supply authority Western Water and local farmers, the project will provide a new, secure source of reliable, recycled water for agricultural use in Melbourne’ west. The project has the potential to deliver up to 19,000 million litres of recycled water to farmland in the Parwan-Balliang region for livestock grazing and broad acre crops, including wheat, barley and canola.
The Australian Government is contributing to a number of other water infrastructure projects in Victoria, including:
- the South West Loddon Rural Water Supply Project ($20 million Australian Government contribution)
- the Macalister Irrigation District Modernisation Phase 1B Project ($20 million Australian Government contribution)
- the Sunraysia Modernisation Project 2 ($3.03 million Australian Government contribution)
- the Macalister Irrigation District Modernisation Phase 2 ($31.3 million Australian Government contribution)
- the East Grampians Water Supply Project ($32 million Australian Government contribution)
- the Mitiamo and District Reticulated Water Supply Project ($14.5 million Australian Government contribution)
- the Lindenow Valley Water Security Scheme ($10 million, fully funded by the Australian Government)
