Further 6000 megalitres water allocated from Rookwood Weir water sales
The nearly completed Rookwood Weir in Central Queensland will allocate a further 6000 megalitres of water for productive irrigation use.
Through the finalisation of the second tender for water sales, 21 lower Fitzroy landholders secured additional water to be used for a variety of primary industry purposes, including grain, fruit, and nut cropping, and livestock production.
Once complete, the Rookwood Weir project will play an important role in delivering water security and availability for central Queenslanders.
Construction of Rookwood Weir is on track to be completed in late 2023.
The Rookwood Weir project is jointly funded by the Australian Government through the National Water Grid Fund and the Queensland Government, delivered in partnership with Sunwater.
