Funding locked in for Urannah Dam
The Urannah Dam will receive a funding boost, subject to finalisation of the business case, which is expected to be completed later this year.
The Australian Government will provide $483 million through the 2022-23 Budget towards construction of the dam.
Once built, the dam could unlock 103-gigalitres of water, enabling local producers to develop up to 20,000 hectares of irrigated agriculture.
The dam will also provide a secure and affordable water supply for mining, industrial and urban use, securing the region’s water future and creating new and expanded opportunities for businesses and industries.
This announcement builds on the $22.65 million already committed toward the development of the Urannah Dam project by the Australian Government.
